Subject: Anybody going to Fourth Street?

I wistfully decided not to go to WisCon this year because it falls squack into the middle of end-of-school-year chaos.

Now that Fourth Street Fantasy has been revived, I'm seriously tempted. It won't have the same feminist-solidarity vibe that I love about WisCon, but it will have the same small-community vibe.

Pros:

  • [info]matociquala and [info]oursin will be there
  • I'm in time to get a hotel room
  • Minneapolis is pretty cool


Cons:
  • [info]cofax7, [info]ellen_fremedon, and all my manga-loving friends won't be there
  • Probable heavy secondary smoking
  • No hilarious panels like "What These People Need Is A Honky"

At the end of the day, it's all about the people. If you're going to Fourth Street, could you comment here?

Sorry to reply so late, but I figured I'd better check with the chair of Fourth Street. Fourth Street is renting a room on the smoking floor for Steve and other smokers to hang out in and indulge their habit. However, the function space is non-smoking and so is the hospitality suite. The only way you'd have a problem with secondhand smoke is if you wanted to have an extended conversation with Steve or, possibly, to listen to him make music.

Experience with other conventions in that hotel indicates that the smoke from the smoking floor doesn't get to the non-smoking floor where the hospitality suite is, or to the function space.
